Cinderella

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful girl called Cinderella. She lived with her stepsister & stepmother. They were very bossy. She had to do all the housework.

One day, an invitation to the ball came to the family.  Her stepsister did not let her go, so Cinderella was very sad. The stepsister went to the ball without her.

Fortunately, the fairy godmother came and helped her to get to the ball. At the ball, Cinderella danced with the prince, who fell in love with her, then later he married her. They lived happily ever after.

What do you know about Narrative text?

Definition

A narrative text is a story that is created in a constructive format that describes a sequence of fictional or non-fictional events. It is a story with complication or problematic events and it tries to find the resolutions to solve the problems.The Purpose of Narrative Text itself is to amuse or to entertain the reader with a story. 

Generic Structures of Narrative Text

1) OrientationOrientation is set of the scene: like where and when the story happened and introduces the participants of the story: who and what is involved in the story.2) ComplicationTells the beginning of the problems which leads to the crisis (climax) of the main participants. It may be consist of many problems.3) ResolutionResolution states about the problem (the crisis) when it is resolved, either in a happy ending or in a sad (tragic) ending4) Re-orientation/CodaThis is a closing remark to the story, but it is an optional. It consists  of  a  moral  lesson,  advice  or  teaching  from  the writer.




Language Features
  • Past tense (such as killed, drunk,etc)
  • Adverb of time (Once upon a time, one day, etc)
  • Time conjunction (when, then, suddenly, etc)
  • Specific character. The character of the story is specific, not general. (Cinderella, Snow White, Alibaba, etc)
  • Action verbs. A verb that shows an action. (killed, dug, walked, etc)
  • Direct speech. It is to make the story lively. (Snow White said,”My name is Snow White). The direct speech uses present tense.

Example of narrative text:

Orientation
Once upon a time there was a girl called Cinderella. She lived with her step sisters and step mother. They treated her badly. She had to do all the house work.

Complication
One day an invitation to the ball came to the family. But, her step sisters would not let her go. Cinderella was very sad. The step sisters went to the ball without her.
Fortunately, the fairy godmother came and helped her to get to the ball. 

Resolution
At the ball, Cinderella danced with the prince. The prince fell in love with her and then married her. 

Re-orientation
They lived happily ever after.
